Houston We Did It!!
On Saturday, August 8th, Community180 hosted the HUG HTX Back-to-School Block Party in the Greenspoint community, and together we witnessed the power of partnership in action. With the support of generous sponsors, dedicated volunteers, and committed community partners, we were able to serve over 410 families with backpacks, shoes, uniforms, school supplies, food, and an afternoon of fun, resources, and connection. What could have been an ordinary Saturday became a day of hope, joy, and preparation for a strong school year ahead.
At the heart of this success was our incredible partnership with Harvest Time Church, who opened their doors and their hearts to host the event. Their hospitality, servant leadership, and commitment to community made it possible for families to feel not only supported, but truly celebrated.
We also extend our gratitude to the community partners who stood shoulder to shoulder with us: Walmart, whose generosity helped supply children with the essentials they need to thrive; Altitude Trampoline Park, who brought excitement and energy for kids to enjoy; PNC Bank, who invested in families by providing financial resources and educational tools; Aldine ISD, whose presence and support helped connect families to vital educational opportunities; Harris County Health, who provided critical health resources to strengthen family well-being; and Councilwoman Tarsha Jackson (District B), whose ongoing advocacy and partnership continues to empower families in North Houston. Alongside them, countless other partners, vendors, and volunteers gave of their time, talents, and resources to ensure no child was left behind.
The true impact of HUG HTX is not just in the numbers—though serving 410 families is remarkable, but in the stories of children who walked away confident with new shoes, parents relieved to know their children are ready for school, and families encouraged by the reminder that their community cares for them.
Together, we built bridges of hope, created impact that will carry into the school year, and demonstrated the power of unity. On behalf of Community180, thank you for making HUG HTX 2025 an unforgettable success.
